The mayor of Mar del Plata, Guillermo Montenegro, faces calls for impeachment from the provincial commission for his recent security initiatives, which have sparked political tensions.

Controversy Over Security Measures in Mar del Plata

The Provincial Commission for Memory (CPM), led by Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, filed a criminal complaint against the mayor of General Pueyrredón, Guillermo Montenegro. The organization also requested the Deliberative Council of the Municipality to initiate political proceedings against him. The reason behind these actions was Montenegro's adoption of measures to reinforce security and public order in Mar del Plata, which were not to CPM's liking.

In the midst of this controversy, Montenegro responded by accusing the CPM and Kirchnerism of trying to force his dismissal due to their lack of support at the polls and in public opinion. The mayor criticized the opportunistic attitude of his opponents and defended the actions of the security forces during operations carried out in Mar del Plata.

Tension between Montenegro and the CPM intensified after a series of arrests made by local security forces, which Montenegro celebrated on his social media. The CPM questioned the mayor's actions and called for sanctions against him, while Montenegro defended his position and criticized certain sectors of society's perception of the middle class and criminals.

In a statement, Montenegro expressed his skepticism regarding the accusations against him, pointing out the desperation of his critics. Despite the pressures, the mayor remained firm in his stance, defending the actions of his administration aimed at strengthening security in the city.
